In 2021, DETA (Douwe Terpstra), SolVin (Vincent van Tiel) and I started working on an animated music video for DETA's song, 'This is Real', which is featured on DETA's latest music album, Ambiotic. After years of working on it inbetween other projects, we finally released it in 2023.
The video tell's an emotional tale about the circle of life. The main character of this story is a male human being, whose life cycle and growth is visualized at a tempo which is guided by the rhythm and evolution of the music. You see this human’s life evolving from his birth until his death, creatively transitioning from each phase into the next.
When grown into an adult, the protagonist comes across a psychedelic mushroom, which sends him into a psychedelic trip. This trip teaches him valuable lessons about different aspects of life, such as love, heartbreak, human connection, meditation and personal growth.
